Above, is the screenshot of kongregate as a logged in user with a level 20 of game player at kongregate. Yes, as a great source of games reference that is one of many feature kongregate has in it. I'm gonna try to list some of the feature kongregate has.
User Level
User have a parameter known as level to measure how much and how eager they play at this platform. To earn a level, user have to play games which have achievement, and every achieved achievements user will earn various number of experience. And if they have enough experience points they will earn a level. This system makes us feel likes playing a game inside a game. This system is a good reference to make user play again and again for some time being.
To get experience points, user have to play a games which have badges or achievements. While playing a game, there is a tab beside the game frame and tell the user if the game have achievement or not. If the game have achievement, the tab will list all available achievement, how to achieve them, what the difficulty, and how many point will be rewarded if it had achieved.
Kongpanion
Think kongpanion of an achievable creature which can be achieved once a week. Yeah, its kind of an achievement if you can achieve "badges of the day" once in a week. And you can get a shiny kongpanion if you achieve 5 "badges of the day" in a week.
How to get badge of the day? there are 2 ways, check the slider of the front page of kongregate and scroll until you get the information about kongpanion. Click the badge to play the game and achieve the badge / achievement to earn kongpanion.
The other ways to search for the badge of the day is by going to your dashboard and check the kongpanion week checklist just under your information. This way, you can play badge of the day for days ahead but still you only get the check if you open the game and checked the required achievement at the date listed.
User Dashboard
User can have their own dashboard showing their progress while playing at the site. What's their level, how many kongpanion, badges, friends they earn. See or write activity feed. See their games analytic if they are a game developer, and etc.
Dashboard is a useful place for a user to track about their activity in kongregate and edit information about themselves so the other user can know about a user better and make friends of each other.
Favorites
Really likes a game or do you want to use it as a game reference and wants the game to be easily searched eventough you forgot the name? just click "Favorite" under the game frame where you can find rating, achievement and comments, the favorite button is just above the achievements section
After you favorited the games, you can check your favorite by clicking hearts icon at the user quick dashboard at the top of the web.
